Take care of your garden tools ;and they will take care of you! Seriously, your garden tools will last a lot longer (especially wood handles) if you show them a little love every once in a while, so take a little time to clean, sand, sharpen and oil your garden tools.

Clean - Round up all your tools, a bucket of warm water, and a wire or stiff bristle brush. Start with the brush and knock off the majority of the dirt on your tools. Once you have the dirt removed, scrub the remaining with warm water. Then rinse and let them air dry or wipe them with a towel.

Sand - Once your garden tools are dry, it’s a good time to sand any wood handles. Moisture, whether it’s from water in the soil, dew or rain will raise the grain of the wood, making it feel rough. Gardeners that live in high humidity regions will also see/feel this “grain raising” more often. Just about any sandpaper will work for this, but I suggest starting out with 80 grit paper and finishing off with 120-150 grit for a nice smooth handle surface.

Sharpen - Now's a good time to have a look and sharpen any tools that need it. You can sharpen your tools with a range of tools, but most gardeners find that a flat file (available here or at your local hardware store) will handle all their sharpening needs.

Before you start, a word about safety. Please wear eye protection. The smallest sliver of metal in the eye can be very painful. Also, wear some heavy gloves to prevent those same slivers of metal from your hands and to prevent cuts from your newly sharpened tools.

Stihl Ms170 Gasoline Chain Saw 14" | Model: CSM-MA170-14

Description : ;

The STIHL MS 170 is the perfect lightweight chain saw ;for homeowners seeking great value. Compact, lightweight with just the right amount of power, the MS 170 makes quick work of trimming or cutting small trees, fallen limbs after a storm, and other tasks around the yard. And even at its great price, the MS 170 has many of the same design features the professionals depend on.

Features: ;

Anti-Vibration System

STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

IntelliCarb? Compensating Carburetor

The IntelliCarb? Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb? uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb? system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in airflow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.

Ematic? Lubrication System

The Ematic? guide bar, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC? saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.

Brushcutter (garden tool)

brush cutter (also called a brush saw or clearing saw) is a powered garden or agricultural tool used to trim weeds, small trees, and other foliage not accessible by a lawnmower or rotary mower. Various blades or trimmer heads can be attached to the machine for specific applications.

It consists of:

A power unit is held close to the body.

A pole through which the power is transmitted.

A rotary cutting head at the opposite end of the pole to the power unit.
